About Aikido
Aikido has its roots in traditional
Japanese martial arts.
Through the study of several budo arts, asceticism and meditation
"Morihei Ueshiba" the founder of Aikido succeeded in recreating the true roots of the martial
arts, which is the harmony
between man and nature. Martial
arts should not be used as a tool of destruction -
they should be used as a path where we can re-learn
to live in harmony with the energies of the universe.
The founder called his art:
Ai - Ki - Do
"Being in harmony with the life force as a way of daily practise."

"Aikido is a
Way of the heart"
"True strength means
changing fight in to peace"
Morihei Ueshiba
1883-1969
Aikido means movement -
learning through the
body. Aikido is a moving meditation. Through ritualised movement we learn how to connect
the strength of body, mind and heart.
The awareness for this process develops relaxation,
concentration and self confidence.
It is not possible to experience just through
the intellect - Aikido has to be experienced in the whole and with all our senses.
At the practice hall, called the "Dojo", training takes place in a group under the supervision of
a qualified instructor. Everyone can take part in training irrespective of age or sex.
The atmosphere at the Dojo is always characterised by peace and
patience - no thoughts about professional performance rather the dedication to find your
own rhythm and feeling.
